Usability Testing

What is Usability Testing?
In a usability lab, respondents perform tasks on the website, under the supervision of a researcher. The tasks are realistic, such as searching for information, making purchases, registering or making contact.

Cameras and audio equipment register all the respondent’s acts. Further analysis of the video and audio material will show which problems visitors encounter during the interaction.

When do you need a usability review?
A usability review is at its most effective when you’re planning to reconstruct your website. There are two options:

gebruikersvriendelijkheid testen
  1. Test the existing website
  2. Test the prototype for the new website
Testing the website you intend to replace can give you insight into its strong and weak points. This will make clear which parts you should keep and need to be replaced.

Testing the prototype offers you insight at an early stage into the strong and weak points of the design. This knowledge will help you avoid costly modifications to the final website. Modifications to a prototype are normally more cost-effective by a factor of 10 than modifications to a website than has already been implemented

Continuous optimization?
A usability review may also be called for in situations where the website evolves continuously because several teams make changes to the website. In such cases, a review may offer insight into its present state and the starting points for further optimization.

Based on your online targets, we review the most important points of interaction on your website. First, we review the most significant bottlenecks in the website using Web Statistics. Subsequently, we design tasks to be performed by respondents on the website. The tasks have been constructed in such a way as to make the respondent encounter all bottlenecks. This offers insight into the emotions and attitudes experienced by users. These insights can be translated into concrete solutions, improving the online customer experience
